Aidan Vogel is a 22 year old American Composer temporarily living in Bedminster, New Jersey. He is the first musician in his family, but he certainly does not intend to be the last. He started his musical journey playing violin as a child, participating in youth orchestras. Then he was on to singing in boy choirs, playing saxophone and trombone in jazz bands, singing and dancing in musical theatre, and more recently, composing. He has found such an intense passion in composition because it allows one to express things through their music with incredible layers of depth.
He has always loved to both perform and absorb music, going to concerts and supporting musicians small and large alike. To him all music is beautiful, and can be an opportunity to learn something. From contemporary art music, to rock and roll, to trap, music always has a meaning. Whether it is a statement on life, a social commentary, or just a carefree song to take us away from the turmoil of the world; all music has a point and has beauty. He uses these deeply held beliefs in his own work, always trying to make people think and feel something after listening to his music.
He attended Berklee College of Music and graduated Cum Laude with a double major in Music Composition and Film Scoring, with a minor in Conducting. He began at Berklee in the fall of 2016, and with hard work (and quite a few sleepless nights), graduated in the Spring of 2019, 3 years after matriculation. He has had the fortune of being a member of the CharlieChords, Berklee’s premier all-male A’Capella group, spending one semester as their Vice President. He was also a member of the Underground Choir, and the Society of Composers holding the titles of Assistant Director and Operations Manager respectively.
He enjoys writing in all musical styles; tonal and atonal, vocal and instrumental, traditional notation and graphic notation. He believes that music is a collaboration between composer and performer and that everyone involved in the music making process should be enjoying their work.
He doesn’t believe in writing music like that which has been done before; to him the point of music is to do something new with what you've been given. In that sentiment lies his true inspiration, knowing that all of the great composers before him were just regular people like you and me, the difference is they just had a drive and a passion, and they did something different to change the face of music forever. He believes we can be some of the greats, and he hopes that you believe in this as well.
